St. Hubert’s: An Example of Excellence
First off, congratulations to all of our state winners! Team Fisco was so impressed by everyone’s results, we decided to reach out to the the students of St. Hubert’s, the Pennsylvania state winners, to interview them on their thoughts on the program.
St. Hubert’s Catholic Preparatory School for Girls is located in the vicinity of Philadelphia. With a rich history of over 70 years, it is one of the premier Catholic schools within the region. Today, it boasts a variety of clubs and an enthusiastic student population ready for new challenges. This year alone, St. Hubert’s had over 390 students participate in the scholarship. This year’s state champions are Katie Betzner, Jessica Eng, Breanna Simpson, Katlyn Shilkitus and Lauren Qualters.

The Q + A
Q: What do you think of the scholarship in general?
A: Its easy, fun and great money for college. We would recommend it to any high school student.
Q: Do you think you’ve gained valuable information from the scholarship?
A: Definitely. This is really practical material that we can use in the real world.
Q: How do you plan on helping your school win again?
A: Well, we should get the whole school to participate! We had a great turnout this year, but we think we can do better.
Q: Any advice on the scholarship for future students?
A: Go for it! We didn’t know we’d do well, we just tried our best.
Q: What about real life?
A: Well, we learned it is important to manage your money, avoid over-drafting, and the various ways identity theft can happen.
Q: Has this increased your interest in business?
A: Yes. I’ve always been interested, but its was a fun and entertaining way to learn more about money and see if we are really interested in the field.
